As a pastor, my favorite times in ministry are sitting with people and hearing the stories of what God is doing in their lives, even when they were not always able to see or explain that for themselves. This is the heart of spiritual direction.

I do not come to our spiritual direction sessions as someone who is smarter, holier, or wiser than you. I come as someone who is willing to listen to your story, to sit in the silence as we wait for God to speak, and to journey with you through your own life of faith.

I will not have all the answers. What I will have are questions that may help you see God in a different way, I will have suggestions for practices or readings that may help you discern a problem or situation. but most importantly, I will have an open and safe space where you can bring your faith, doubts, questions, and yourself where we can listen for God together.

Spiritual Direction is not therapy or coaching. I am not here to diagnose you or give you suggestions for success in business or life. What our time together is for is to give you space to hear God better and to appreciate where your relationship with God is growing and moving.

Location

Most of my sessions are conducted over Zoom, however, I currently live in southern Michigan, so if you are local I am happy to meet with you in-person, but I have also found that doing direction over Zoom can allow people to be more open and comfortable because they are in their own space.

Training

I graduated from Duke Divinity School with a Masters of Divinity and am ordained in the Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church.

I completed my training in Spiritual Direction through the Center for Spiritual Formation.

Payment

I do not have a set fee for Spiritual Direction at this time, but instead invite directees to determine what they can afford. For pastors, I am happy to provide a receipt for reimbursement expenses since Direction is generally considered an acceptable use of Continuing education or reimbursement accounts. If it is helpful, the general range is anywhere from $50-$90 a session.
